While out walking, I was struck by the beauty of the night. What really got to me were the stars, which were clear this morning, and even the beauty of the street lights against the darkness.
It then occurred to me, that it wasn't the night that I found beautiful. It was the light, against the night, that I found inspiring - just as a lit Christmas tree in a dark room is one of my favorite sights.
This verse from Phillipians then came to mind:
So I guess what I want to say is this: Sometimes, when we can see no benefit of our obedience, when we try to figure out the "whys" of a situation - when we can see no good coming of a situation....maybe I need to remember Who it is I am trying to please....Not me, but Him.
"If You love me, you will keep my commands"...I think it's a way of saying "I Love You" to Him.
And maybe, just maybe, that obedience appears as beautiful to Him in the night of this world as the stars appeard to me this morning.
He loves us - In what we eat, say, and do....let's love Him back today. Not just obeying, but obeying without complaining and grumbling.
Peace be with you today.
